Our exceptional Volunteers

At YMB, we aim to encourage and expand opportunities within STEM across all levels. Intergenerational knowledge sharing, collaboration, and friendship help build a stronger society. By offering volunteer opportunities to university students, we hope to strengthen connections between science and the community and create a supportive foundation for those pursuing STEM education across all levels and ages.

My name is Enea and I am a second-year Bachelor of Marine Science student at SCU. I am originally from France and I am passionate about the ocean and its marine life. I love learning more about marine ecosystems and sharing that knowledge with others. Through the YMB program, I am excited to help youth discover the marine environment and inspire them to care for and protect the ocean.

Hi, I’m Jaycie — a second-year marine science student at Southern Cross University in Coffs Harbour. Growing up by the beach, I’ve always felt a strong connection to the ocean. From a young age, I knew I wanted to build a career that allowed me to work closely with marine environments and the incredible life they support. What started as a curiosity has grown into a genuine passion for marine conservation and ocean science.
I’m deeply committed to advocating for our oceans and the diverse ecosystems they hold. Whether through volunteering, work experience, community engagement, supporting environmental initiatives, or practicing sustainable living in my everyday life, I’m always looking for ways to make a positive impact. I’m driven, enthusiastic, and eager to contribute to meaningful research and conservation efforts that protect our marine world for future generations.

I’m Claire, a PhD Candidate at Southern Cross University. My PhD is looking at how drones can be used for monitoring marine ecosystems, in particular rocky intertidal shores and coral reefs. I am looking at ways to classify and analyse drone imagery using machine learning. I am a keen scuba diver and love exploring and learning more about the marine environment.
